If you recorded a long video which can be correctly played on the camera, but after connected to the computer, it shows that the video size is 0 bytes and cannot be played while other small files can be normal play and have correct size, or when try to import the videos using Photo App on macOS but failed to see them in the ‘imported’ directory, refer to this article to solve the problem. Otherwise try other methods such as disk recovery.
Reason
The cause of the problem is not hardware or software issue, so don’t worry about your file is missing. It is the disk configuration problem. Due to the limitation of FAT32 disk format itself which does not support transfering files bigger than 4GB. Hence the phenomenon where big files go wrong while small file is normal happens.
Solution
Method 1: if you have a card reader, you can use it directly.
Method 2: if you do not have a card reader, you can use the software which can be downloaded from the official site: https://hk.canon/zh_HK/support/0200570702/1. Before downloading, you may need to provide a serial number, which is a series of Numbers at the bottom of the camera (or refer to this website: https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/where_to_find_your_serial_number/
) :
After installation, open Canon EOS Utility (or Canon EOS Utility 2). Then connect the camera to the computer, and make sure the camera is on and in connection mode. The software should automatically recognize the camera. Select the videos to be imported and wait till it is done. (see the official document)
